Then I put the skirt together in two separate pieces, just to make it easier to work with..

It took no time at all but it really helped add a little extra bit of.to this corner of the dining room..

So here’s how you can do a project like this yourself!.Start by putting together a basic shelving unit that you can pick up at any big box store or.Putting on the backing is always the last step.

Don’t do that step!.Next, run out to your local Home Depot, or other favorite hardware store and pick up one pack of basic pine beadboard.

For the record, we also checked out the idea of doing beadboard wallpaper over the backing provided with the book shelf, but it turned out that the actual beadboard was much cheaper for a project this size.

One pack was about $15.. Now paint that beadboard a color of your choice! When we started this project, there was plaster on the ceiling and then some tile stuff on top of that.

Chris decided that just sticking the beadboard on top looked too wonky so every last little bit of everything came down.. Of course he had to go and do it the “right way” (someone’s gotta!)so he put up some plastic and some two by fours for strapping.. Then he put up some foam insulation and finally, the beadboard on top of all that.. And now we’re in business!.

We picked up these neat ripply glass pendants and some Edison bulbs to go in them.. We’ve been busy the last few weeks with Christmas stuff so progress has been slow, but like a brilliant girl I know (me!)always says: Any progress is still progress!.
